Virtual Certificate Conferring the Right to Dream and the Happiness of Dreaming

This document certifies that you are a lifelong member of the

UNIVERSAL SOCIETY OF DREAMERS.

This privilege grants the member, forever, the following rights: to daydream through poetry or through love; to dream or daydream anywhere without justification (provided that the lives of others are never put at risk); to dream as never before, simply for the pleasure of it; to hope each day for the dream of a lifetime; to dream like a child, or because you are a child; to tell your dreams upon waking or at any other time of day; to nourish your dreams in the same way that children observe the world; to dream in order to make people laugh; to dream for the advancement of science, the arts, and humanity, whether through sportsmanship, poetry, or humanitarian conscience; to dream in order to bring sweet tears into life; to think about your dreams during the day; not to worry if you do not understand them, but simply to daydream about them; to enjoy remembering your dreams; to respect your own right to dream, as one respects the right to freedom; to respect the dreams of others; to dream while playing; and to consider most of your dreams as though they were cradled in light.

But the holder of this certificate also has the following duties: not to shatter other people’s dreams; to listen when others describe their dreams; to remember that dreams can also help one escape nightmares or their causes, or find a way to face them; to leave behind the impression of dreams, like the lingering scent of flowers; to leave a trace of gentle sadness in those who have forgotten their dreams upon waking, and then to smile discreetly; to keep the humility of little dreamers; to discreetly greet anyone caught in a waking dream with a glance; and to uphold the undeniable right to dream like a child.

Granted today!

Members must never forget our motto: "...if dreaming is light, daydreaming is a night-light." The Universal Society of Dreamers authorizes you to offer this certificate to any other dreamer you encounter in a waking dream, or to a dreamer close to you.

This certificate may also be given to someone you have dreamed about, or to someone who has told you that they dreamed about you.
